Today, I was going to write a blog post about having fun in your life coaching business. It’s a topic I feel passionate about. Why? Because I truly believe it’s the secret to really getting your message out to the tribe who needs you .
But the words wouldn’t come.
So instead I’m going to write about what I’m feeling. I’m feeling sad and frustrated that the people in this world who have nothing constructive to say, who have no desire to do good in the world – have no problem speaking up and sharing their messages. Have no issue saying whatever they want to whomever they want. Have no concern in the world about who they offend, the consequences of their words– and most importantly – what other people think.
On the other hand, the people who have such amazing gifts to offer, who want to do good, who have the potential to inspire positive change and truly make the world a better place for all of us – stay silent. Not all of them. But too many.
Imagine if Oprah Winfrey was too worried about what other people thought? If Ghandi thought that people just wouldn’t be interested in his message?
Now think about all the reasons you, as a life coach, stay silent. Why you don’t tell people what you do. Why you don’t put your business out there in the world. Why you don’t make sure that not a single person misses out on hearing that important message they so desperately need.
I can tell you some of the reasons I don’t.
I’m scared to offend people. I don’t want to be misunderstood. People will think I’m too this or too that (you can insert about 20 words in there and they’ll all work). And ultimately, who do I think I am, anyway?
Yesterday I told a good friend of mine and fellow coach that I really wanted to help other life coaches love what they do, have fun with their businesses and their marketing. Why? Because I it kills me when they don’t share their amazing gifts and medicine with the world. It kills me to hear all the negative crap that is shared – when I know how many amazing voices are staying silent.
And I really think I can help. I really do! But I’ve stayed silent. I haven’t helped enough.
I’m doing the same thing that frustrates me so much. I’m contributing to the number of life coaches who stay silent. Who don’t share their medicine.
So today, I decided it’s time to get over myself. To stop being afraid. I’m going to start sharing my voice with the world. And I hope you’ll join me.
